SUSTAINABOL

CLIENT: SUSTAINABOL

SustainaBol is the Festival on Sustainability create for generate knowledge, connections and awareness among citizens.
The project is part of the seventh edition of the 2023 Sustainable Development Festival promoted by ASviS (Alliance for Sustainable Development) in collaboration with The Room. This is an important meeting point to let the community know about the commitment undertaken by the city of Bologna and the Emilia Romagna region, through the creation of a large laboratory active on sustainable issues.

By 2030 Bologna is committed to becoming a zero impact city, with 100% renewable energy used (by 2035) and the achievement (by 2050) of European climate neutrality. This is what emerges from the PACT FOR WORK AND THE CLIMATE OF THE EMILIA ROMAGNA REGION signed to guarantee the "relaunch and development of Emilia-Romagna based on environmental, economic and social sustainability". Furthermore, Bologna is promoting itself to become one of the 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030, by citizens and for citizens.

These are important missions, which represented an extraordinary starting point for giving life to the first edition of SustainaBol, the sustainability festival to be held on 11/12/13/14 May in Bologna.

The aim is to integrate the 17 United Nations SDGs into people's lifestyles in order to generate awareness and active involvement in the achievement of the United Nations goals in the light of those that see both the city of Bologna and the entire region.

The Festival guest also the "Whale John!", a sculpture about 13 meters long, created as part of Scart, the Hera Group artistic project which for over 20 years has been proposing a new vision of waste materials thanks to the creative reworking of many artists. The whale is made with about 4,000 polylaminate cartons, from which about 5,500 small ripples have been cut and aims to underline how much pollution and plastic waste are undermining the marine ecosystem.
